Meetings & Events

The Forest Acres Rotary Club meets every Wednesday 1:00 – 2.00 pm at the Tree of Life located at 6719 North Trenholm Road in Columbia, SC 29206. Lunch is from 12:45 to 1:15, Club Business is from 1:15 to 1:30.  We have a different speaker each week covering a range of interesting topics from 1:30-2:00 (prompt finish).  The fifth Wednesday of each month we hold an evening social meeting.

 Junior Rotary Club (Early Act)

EarlyAct is a school-wide service club at Harmony School www.harmonyschoolsc.com sponsored by the Forest Acres Rotary Club in which all elementary students are members.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE

The mission of EarlyAct is to promote goodwill, understanding and peace through the active participation of its student members so that with committed citizenship and effective leadership they may improve the quality of life of their school, local and global communities. The purpose of EarlyAct is to provide students with the opportunities to participate in active citizenship in a culturally diverse democratic society within an interdependent world.

In Action

The Forest Acres Rotary Club is always in action.  Here are a few of our current projects:

  • Forest Acres Festival
  • Backpack Project – Helping in the packing of take-home meals for local students
  • Happy Feet – shoes for under-privilaged schoolchildren
  • Community Donations
  • Grant Funding
  • Scholarship Funding
  • Gamecock Football Parking

Membership

Rotarians are business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. A Rotary club contains a diverse group of professional leaders from the community that the club serves.  Forest Acres Rotary is always looking for new members and potential members are invited to visit our club.   • April 18th (Wednesday) Guillermo Espinosa – Clean air issues for the Midlands
  • April 25th (Wednesday) Natalie Britt Palmetto Conservation Foundation (Palmetto Trail)
  • May 2nd (Wednesday) Rod Funderburk CART Fund
  • May 4th (Friday) Rotary Meeting at Columbia Fireflies Baseball Ground –  Spirit Communications Stadium (downtown Columbia). Meet 6pm for 7pm game opener. Cost $9 entry + $5 for hot dog, chips & soda. Book in advance by April 30th using form circulated to members. Other Rotary Clubs will participate.
